[Book Review] Dance of Thieves by Mary E. Pearson

“It began with the stars.” ― Mary E. Pearson, Dance of Thieves

Dance of Thieves by Mary E. Pearson brings me back to the world of Remnant that I truly love. I remember sharing my happiness and tears with the trilogy – The Kiss of Deception, The Heart of Betrayal and The Beauty of Darkness. I remember how I took quite a long time to move on from the trilogy, because it is so good!

And here comes Dance of Thieves, the book that brings me to the beautiful world again. I have so many things that I love about this book, so I will get into them now.

Firstly, the world building. Oh, my God. I love to get to know more about the forbidding land of the Ballengers, the people, the beauty of their land. I love how the author made it so unique that it was hard for me not to fall in love with how the world turned out. It is magnificent. There, I said it. When I was reading the book, I was waiting for any characters from The Remnant Chronicles to appear, and I was delighted – maybe, overly excited – to find out that they did! My favourite characters from the trilogy were in the book. Yes, people. That is truly exciting.

Secondly, the plot twist. The plot twist in this book is not a joke! I found myself getting shocked at certain points of the story, especially when I almost reached to the ending. I appreciate the plot twist, as I have been thirsty for something like this and I was finally able to quench my thirst! I do not know about other readers, but for me, the plot is not predictable, which is something that I like, as I love to read something that blows my mind away. The romance is something that I reckon everyone will be crazy for it. The relationship in this book is the real definition of relationship goals.

Thirdly, the characters. We have Kazi and Jase as the main characters, and oh, I love them way too much, I need to control myself. Kazi is such a great female character that I truly adore. When I was reading Dance of Thieves, she was strong, she was brave, she was determined, she was loyal. She was everything. She was perfect. The same thing goes to Jase. Oh man, I think I have found another fictional boyfriend. He is mine, alright? He is definitely mine.

I am going back to the characters. I appreciate Mary’s alternative to show that human beings do make mistakes. The main characters made mistakes, and other characters did mistakes, too. I love how I could relate with the characters when I was reading the book, and this just shows that not all characters are perfect, and that is completely normal. Thank you, Mary, for this. You certainly make me love the characters even more.

Dance of Thieves is a book that successfully holds a special place in my heart. This book acts like a thief – a thief that steals my attention, a thief that steals my heart, a thief that makes me a part of its possession. I have never been so generous in rating books, but this book is an exception.

My immediate and final rating for this book is 5 out of 5 stars. Take all the stars, Mary E. Pearson. You deserve them. Thank you for this book.

p/s : I NEED THE SECOND BOOK NOW. I AM DESPERATE.
